Starlight Attends FDA Regulatory Summit 2026: Food Regulation and Research

Starlight Business Consulting Services recently sent members of our team, including our Regulatory Pharmacist, Steven Michael Segubre, to the FDA Regulatory Summit 2026 of the Center for Food Regulation and Research (CFRR), held on June 24–25, 2026. The summit was hosted by the FDA Academy under the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Department of Health.

Why this matters to foreign investors

For companies entering the Philippine market — particularly those in food, beverage, and consumer product manufacturing or distribution — regulatory compliance with the Philippine FDA is not optional. It's a prerequisite for legally selling products in the country. The summit specifically covered three core areas relevant to any business planning to manufacture, import, or distribute food products in the Philippines:

• Licensing of Food Establishments — the process by which manufacturing sites, warehouses, and distribution facilities obtain the required License to Operate (LTO) from the FDA

• Registration of Food Products — the requirement for individual food products to be registered with the FDA before they can be legally sold in the Philippine market

• Other Food-related Authorizations and Core Processes — additional approvals and procedural requirements that may apply depending on product category, labeling, or import status

These requirements apply regardless of whether a company is a small importer testing the Philippine market or a larger regional player, such as a Singaporean firm expanding operations into Southeast Asia.
